Peter Baylor's Jazz Group
The Peter Baylor Jazz Group is a small jazz ensemble that plays regularly for parties, jazz clubs, corporate functions and weddings. The group is made up of a pool of musicians including Peter Baylor, Mark Elton, Chris Tanner, Steven Grant, Eamon McNelis, Julie O’Hara, Jason Downes, Leigh Barker and other leading Melbourne musicians. They perform as a trio through sextet depending on the occasion.
Peter Baylor (Guitar, Banjo, Violin, Vocals) ![]() Peter Baylor is a talented and exciting Melbourne musician who thrives in the live music scene. Peter has been involved in playing music since 1980. He is in high demand at home and abroad as a guitarist, banjoist, violinist and vocalist. Peter plays all kinds of Jazz, Western Swing, Rockabilly, Country, Big Band Swing, Rhythm and Blues, Bluegrass as well as ethnic folk music including Gypsy Swing, Italian Love Songs and Brazilian Choro Music. As a professional musician Peter has played with countless bands in various styles in Melbourne and Sydney. In recent years he’s toured Australia, the USA, Europe and Japan with a variety of groups including Doug Parkinson, The Dancehall Racketeers, Stringbusters, Flatfoot Shakers and many more. In addition to his musical talents, Peter played Scotty Moore in The 1994 Sydney production of "ELVIS, The Musical". He has supported Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, The Stray Cats, Tav Falco, Rosie Flores, Mark O'Connor and Dan Crary over the years and more recently Mike Compton.
