Hello music lovers!

This is a quick reminder that Hop Off is on next Saturday, 6th August. This will be one of our last Hop Off's for the year so please come on down to West Brunswick where it's still only $10 on the door and the beer is cold and cheap!

Litton & Langham update: unfortunately Spats and Martin have had to cancel their tour to Australia this year. If you purchased a ticket to Mr Jelly Lord you should have received an email from me with refund information. If not, please respond to this email.

"Hop Off" in Brunswick West

Hop Off is running on Saturday 6th Aug in Brunswick. We're featuring the Red Hot Rhythmakers as usual and would love a huge crowd for what might end up being the last Hop Off for 2011. The dance floor will be full and the band swinging. Still only $10!

Support Swing Patrol

Over the last few years I've been booked to play for Swing Patrol events on a significant number of occasions. Swing Patrol are, according to their website:

"...a big crazy group of people devoted to having fun, making new friends and sharing our love of Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, Blues, Solo Jazz and Tap Dancing."

To do this, they regularly book local bands and support the live music scene.

I'd like to encourage you to visit their website and see what Swing Patrol are up to in your area. There's every chance you'll catch a great band too!

Liam O'Connell CD Launch - Mild Wood Swings

Melbourne composer and guitarist Liam O'Connell will launch his debut release of original compositions with new band Good Gosh at Brunswick's Lomond Hotel, on Friday August 5th. Known primarily for his work in Bell Award-winning Melbourne swing group Sweet Lowdowns, O'Connell's writing is in the swing/jazz idioms at times branching into gypsy-hot club, calypso, blues and waltz forms. About 50/50 instrumental and vocal arrangements the album features the likes of Andy and Peter Baylor, Michael McQuaid, Mark Elton, Leigh Barker and Ian Smith. Alanna Egan sings harmonies. Mild Wood Swings was recorded, mixed and mastered at Fatsound Studio, West Melbourne by Barry Stockly.

Recorded in 2009, the release is long-awaited since the composer's debilitation and recovery from stroke and neurosurgery.

Friday August 5th: Lomond Hotel, 225 Nicholson Street, Brunswick East. Music from 9.30 til 12.30, free entry.
