Supper Market Gigs at The Abbotsford Convent

Unfortunately these gigs have been cancelled. The market is continuing (and is a great evening out),however due to a physical relocation of the market from the lawn area to the front of the convent, there was a clash with existing bands.

Jason Downes Entertainment is proud to host a weekly Friday night gig at the Abbotsford Convent throughout this summer. A different band will appear every Friday night between 6:30pm and 8pm as part of the Supper Markets.
Starting from October 31st, the following bands will appear:

Oct 31 - "Tom 'Spats' Langham and his Rhythm Boys": early jazz quartet inspired by Fats Waller and led by the amazing SPATS LANGHAM - United Kingdom. Featuring Thomas 'Spats' Langham, Malcolm Sked, Michael McQuaid and possibly yours truly, Jason Downes.

Nov 6 - "Cool MacFinn": playing original songs, traditional tunes and the occasional sensational Irish dance. Featuring Ewen Baker and friends.

Nov 13 - "The Sheiks": The romance of the traditional song book with occasional original compositions. Featuring Leigh Barker (Bass), Eamon McNelis (Trumpet), Al McGrath-Kerr (Drums) and Anthony Shulz (piano-accordian).

Nov 27 - "Strings Unlimited Trio": String Trio playing classical music, tango, evergreens and popular songs led by Ferrucio Zorz.

Dec 4 - "Old Hat": cranking out old time jazz, western swing, caribbean influenced folk music and original tunes. Fat double bass-driven grooves laden with two-part harmonies. Featuring Liam O'Connell (Guitar), Alanna Egan (vocals), Richard Mander (Bass) and Sam Young (Drums).

Dec 11 - "Cool MacFinn": playing original songs, traditional tunes and the occasional sensational Irish dance. Featuring Ewen Baker and friends.

Dec 18 - "Bois et Charbon": Gypsy jazz guitar music inspired by the master himself - Django Reinhardt. Featuring Paul McIver and friends.

Feb 12 - "Stiletto Sisters": - Luscious, exciting, virtuosic gypsy melodies, seductive tango rhythms, popular, traditional, old continental favourites & love songs from Europe and Latin America music to swoon by!

Feb 26 - "The Sheiks": The romance of the traditional song book with occasional original compositions. Featuring Leigh Barker (Bass), Eamon McNelis (Trumpet), Al McGrath-Kerr (Drums) and Anthony Shulz (piano-accordian)
