About The Event
"The Arthur Washington Saxytet" currently plays Wednesdays at the Cricketers Arms in Surry Hills, Sydney. They have maintained a residency there for almost 6 years. They play in a style that derives from the traditional gypsy jazz style created by Django Reinhardt in the 1940’s. Once a month the band grows to a nine piece band which includes five saxophones, two guitars, double bass and drums and is also known as “The Cricketers Arms Big Band”. In this formation the band cover a range of tunes from hard-bop, swing with some originals thrown in too.
Heres some links to some footage of the band playing.
